Do you know what is the actual amount of data traffic that Brazil reach per day?

In Brazil was applied a project PTT-Metro which is the name given by the Management Committee of Internet in Brazil (CGIbr) , this organization is responsible for the coordination and integration of Internet services in the country, but what PTT-Metro is exactly?.

The acronym PTT (Ponto de Troca de Tráfego) is similar as what we known as IXP(Internet Exchange Point), which means a physical place where multiple networks from different providers are nterconnected using as advantages of Peering for attending users request to internet access. But due to the amount of peole lives in Brazil and how big it is, twas applied one or more IXP for each state ou Metropolitan área, this is the reason of its name PTT-Metro.

In statistics, Brazil has an average peak value of 4.2 Terabits per second in a day!

PTT-Metro project at the moment involves the following Brazilian cities:

Aracaju, Belém, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Campina Grande, Campinas, Campo Grande (In activation), Cuiabá, Caxias do Sul, Curitiba, Florianópolis, Fortaleza, Foz do Iguaçu, Goiânia, João Pessoa, Lajeado, Londrina, Maceió,Manaus,Maringa,Natal,Porto Alegre,Recife,Rio de Janeiro,Salvador,Santa Maria, São José dos Campos,São José do Rio Preto,São luis, São Paulo, Teresina, Vitória
